なぜデータを整理するのか? 生のデータは読みにくい。データを階級に分けて度数を数える。
重要な用語:
注意: 「30以上40未満」は 30 ≤ x < 40(30を含み、40は含まない)
ヒストグラムは度数分布表の棒グラフ。普通の棒グラフとの違い:
度数折れ線: 各棒の上辺の中点を結んだ折れ線グラフ。
全データの合計 ÷ データの個数
度数分布表から:平均値 ≈ Σ(階級値 × 度数) ÷ 度数の合計
データを小さい順に並べたとき、真ん中の値。偶数個なら真ん中2つの平均。
最も多く現れる値(または最も度数が大きい階級)。
範囲 = 最大値 − 最小値
例:データ 3, 5, 5, 7, 8, 9, 12
相対度数 = ある階級の度数 ÷ 度数の合計
各階級がデータ全体の何割を占めるか。相対度数の合計は必ず1。
例:20人中5人が50〜60点 → 相対度数 = 5/20 = 0.25 = 25%
累積相対度数:最も小さい階級から相対度数を足し上げたもの。
使い方: データの個数が違う2つのグループを比べるとき、度数そのものではなく相対度数で比べる。
Data: 4, 7, 7, 9, 10, 12, 15. Find the mean, median, mode, and range.
解答
Mean = (4+7+7+9+10+12+15)/7 = 64/7 ≈ 9.1 Median = 9 (4th value) Mode = 7 (appears twice) Range = 15 − 4 = 11
Sort the data, then apply each definition. The median is the middle value of 7 data points = 4th value.
A frequency table shows: 0-10: 3, 10-20: 7, 20-30: 5, 30-40: 5. Find the relative frequency of the 10-20 class.

Total = 3 + 7 + 5 + 5 = 20 Relative frequency = 7/20 = 0.35
Divide the class frequency by the total. This means 35% of the data falls in the 10-20 range.
Find the mean from a frequency table: Class values 5, 15, 25, 35 with frequencies 2, 5, 8, 5.

Σ(class value × freq) = 5×2 + 15×5 + 25×8 + 35×5 = 10 + 75 + 200 + 175 = 460 Total freq = 20 Mean = 460/20 = 23
Multiply each class value by its frequency, sum them, then divide by total frequency.
